Replacement Windows

Replacing your windows, especially if they are old and drafty, is always a good idea.  Not only do they make your home more energy efficient, but they improve the appearance of your home and require little to no maintenance other than cleaning.  Choosing the contractor to replace your windows is just as important as the type of window you purchase.

You see advertisements showing big discounts on windows and dedicated installers to make the window replacement experience much easier.  But what you don’t know is these dedicated installers are usually a general contractor they hire to handle their installations.  This doesn’t mean they aren’t qualified to do the job.  However, they may not install windows exclusively.  Also, deeply discounted windows don’t always guarantee you are getting the quality you want and deserve.

So, how do you ensure you are getting a good window and experienced installer?  The best answer to that is due diligence.  Do your own research on the window that your contractor recommends.  Don’t be afraid to ask your contractor for references.

Today’s windows are very effective in retaining heat and air conditioning in your home.  Air won’t escape through drafty windows and your house will be more energy efficient.  A dual-pane window is about twice as effective at energy efficiency as single-paned windows installed 20 years ago.  Your contractor should be able to provide the energy rating of the windows they install.

Wilkins Contracting has experienced installers that have been with them for several years.  They have installed windows in many homes and can provide references to you.  You can trust their workmanship and professionalism as you improve the look and energy efficiency of your home.
